The Umuganura Renaissance Initiative

Umuganura Renaissance Initiative (URI)

Reviving Tradition, Empowering Youth, Celebrating Culture

Overview

The Umuganura Renaissance Initiative (URI) is a transformative cultural, agricultural, and tourism development project led by Africa Legendary Palace. It aims to modernize Rwanda’s traditional harvest festival, Umuganura, transforming it into a vibrant, week-long celebration that engages youth, revitalizes agriculture, and promotes Rwandan heritage on a national and international scale.

By blending tradition with innovation, URI seeks to reconnect young people with their cultural roots while creating opportunities for youth-led agricultural entrepreneurship and cultural tourism. Through symbolic decorations using Imigongo art and strategic media integration, the initiative will make Umuganura more accessible, visible, and meaningful across generations and borders.
